WEEK SIX AFTER VIDEO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

After watching the video, here are some questions to discuss with your group.

1. From the video teaching we learned the “land between” is when we experience a loss as we encounter a gap between what we really hoped for and what actually happened. Share about a time (possibly now) when you found yourself in the “land between” dealing with some kind of relationship.  What were you experiencing? Feeling? How did God meet you in the midst of that tough time?

2. Review and discuss the ways the revival fire of your small group can be hindered or extinguished.

a. Blown out by carelessly handling the words others share

b. Doused by saying harmful and critical words

c. Lack of fresh wood of consistency in a small group

d. Starved of oxygen by relational tension and unresolved conflict

3. Reflecting on the previous question, which of the four do you feel like God is asking you to pay closer attention to? Why? Share/confess to one another as needed and then pray for each other.

4. Allow time for each person to share what has been his or her main takeaway from the Together Experience.

5. Conclude your group time by asking if anyone would like to receive prayer and then pray for each person who has a need or request. Make sure to also spend time thanking God for all He has done through the Together Experience.

WEEK FIVE STARTER QUESTIONS

b. A testimony of salvation (how the lost found freedom, forgiveness and hope in Christ)
c. A testimony of healing (how God healed your body or heart)
d. A testimony of God’s provision (how God provided or came through for you)
e. A testimony of victory (something God defeated or helped you overcome)

WEEK FIVE AFTER VIDEO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

After watching the video, here are some questions to discuss with your group.

1. What practices help you to stay connected to Christ in nourishing and life-giving ways? What are the indicators that show you are not abiding in Christ?

2. In the teaching, we learned that a flourishing life produces fruit in our words, our work and our worship. Which of these three do you feel like is most lacking in your life? Why?

3. Reflecting on the teaching, the previous question, and the last week, take time for each person to share:

  • One need
  • One confession (from the week or stirred by teaching)
  • One prayer request

Then, simply ask who would like to receive prayer. Gather around that person as a group, place a hand on his/her shoulder, and follow the instructions we learned in session three:

a. Someone begin the prayer time by asking God to pour out His promised presence. Example: God thank you that you love Joe. You know what Joe needs now. He needs you. Jesus, please pour out your promised presence. Holy Spirit, come. We still our minds and hearts and wait upon you God.

b. After some pause, ask the person, “Is anything happening in your mind or heart as we pray?”

c. After he/she shares, thank God for how He is at work. Example: If He gives the person peace, thank Him for that peace!

d. Then continue to pray, asking God for more of what He wants to do. Example: God, we are asking for more. More of your presence…more revealing…more healing…more peace, etc.

e. Pray over the group member as you feel led, but don’t feel pressure to “fill up” the space.

f. Wait and then ask the person again: “Is anything else happening in your mind or heart as we pray?”

g. Celebrate! Thank God for what He has done specifically and will continue doing in this person’s life!

WEEK THREE AFTER VIDEO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

After watching the video, here are some questions to discuss with your group.

1. Someone in the group read Mark 14:32-42. What stands out to you about the way Jesus responded to being pressed from all sides?

2. When you are pressed, what is your “go to” response?

3. Think of a time when you were pressed this past week. Was prayer your “Plan A?”

a. If so, share what this practically looked like in your life.

b. If not, share how you reacted and how you would have responded differently if prayer had been “Plan A.”

4. List some things that are pressing on you right now and then share one of them with the group.

5. Having checked in with one another, ask who would like to receive prayer. Gather around that person as a group, place a hand on his/her shoulder, and follow the instructions from the video teaching:

a. Someone begin the prayer time by asking God to pour out His promised presence. Example: God thank you that you love Joe. You know what Joe needs now. He needs you. Jesus, please pour out your promised presence. Holy Spirit, come. We still our minds and hearts and wait upon you God.

WEEK TWO AFTER VIDEO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

After watching the video, here are some questions to discuss with your group.

1. The idea of taking a risk to openly share can be intimidating, so begin by naming some benefits of getting personal issues out of the dark and into the light.

2. The practice of confession begins with self-examination. As a group, read Psalm 139:23-24. What stands out to you?

3. Individually, take a few minutes to pray and ask God to show you anything that is hiding in the darkness of your heart that needs to be brought into the light. It could be:

a. something you did wrong (like a bad attitude or improper thought)

b. a selfish motive

c. a harsh response

d. a feeling of insecurity

e. something that is difficult to let others know about you

4. Write down what God reveals to you.

5. To help remove the burden and power of what has been hounding you in the dark, share with those in your group one thing that you wrote down. Please don’t just pick the easiest item, but share an area you are asking God for breakthrough.

6. Make sure to allow time for all to share and affirm each person as they confess to the group. Remember your commitment of confidentiality to each other.

7. Once everyone shares, talk about your experience and what you saw God do through the time of confession.

8. Close out your group time by praying for each other. Make sure to acknowledge the forgiveness of God and pray for the needs acknowledged by each member of the group.

WEEK TWO READING PLAN

WEEK ONE AFTER VIDEO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

After watching the video, here are some questions to discuss with your group.

1. Someone in the group read aloud Mark 14:3-8. As a group, talk about what stands out about the Son of God’s situation and how He placed Himself in a posture of receiving?
2. The first step in receiving is to be open about your needs. Individually, take a moment and think through the various categories of need mentioned in the video – material, practical, emotional, and spiritual. Currently, what would you list as your 3-5 top needs? Write these down on a piece of paper.
3. Spend a couple of minutes reflecting further on your list of top needs. Circle or write down what you sense is your greatest need. In identifying your greatest need, it might help to think of what most occupies your thoughts or keeps you awake at night.
4. Having identified your greatest need, write out your most honest and heart-felt prayer to God concerning your need. It might even be a prayer of desperation.
5. As a group, go around one by one allowing time for each person to share their greatest need and the prayer they wrote to God.
6. Before closing the group time, pray for each other’s needs.
