Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers' true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ. Key themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 Peter as participants are challenged to read the book in its entirety each week.

Parenting from the Tree of Life Series

The Tree of Life three-part series provides insight and practical application focused on helping parents build strong family relationships and create an encouraging environment that lead to healthy outcomes for children ages 3-12. Classes may be taken individually or as a series.

more info

Part One: Life, Children and Relationships (January 11-February 15) Part One is focused on helping parents build strong family relationships and creating an encouraging environment in your home. This is the parenting foundation that will lead to healthy outcomes for your children and family. Creating emotional security for children, understanding your child’s unique Love DNA and the importance of a healthy marriage relationship are just a few of the topics, along with practical applications, we will address in this first segment. Part Two: Life, Children and Character (February 22-March 29) Part Two addresses the moral education of children. This segment teaches how young children learn moral lessons, internalize meaningful values, and then translate them into social skills.  Parents will gain insight in how to guide children in the motivation and conviction to choose right over wrong, good over evil, excellence over mediocrity, and initiative over apathy, with intentional and consistent effort. Part Three: Life, Children, Encouragement and Correction (April 5-May 24) This final segment of the Parenting from the Tree of Life Series will focus on specific strategies to help parents in guiding with instruction, motivating with encouragement and establishing necessary boundaries through correction. Ultimately we desire our children to steward their behavior out of the love virtue and not out of fear of reproof. Led by: Rich and Shelly Howard Class Fee: $15/couple for each part (one, two, three) or $36 for all three. For those who already have the workbooks you may take a refresher at no charge. Please register for the class and select the option that indicates you already have the book(s).

MOPS at Cherry Hills Community Church

Thursdays @ 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Atrium

MOPS International encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church.

Cherry Hills Community Church offers a large network of support for young mothers through our MOPS program, a charter of MOPS International.

WHO:

Mothers of young children (birth through Kindergarten)

WHAT:

Cherry Hills Community Church offers two MOPS groups to serve the needs of mothers of young children in our community. Our groups meet twice a month to enjoy a hot brunch, hear from dynamic and encouraging speakers, share concerns and ideas, explore creativity and serve our community. Our groups feel small and intimate with a structure of 10 women or less at each table. A typical MOPS meeting schedule looks like this:
  • Tables bringing food arrive. Food is set up before 8:45 a.m.
  • MOPS women arrive and take children to Moppets* rooms
  • Opening prayer and then women socialize and enjoy brunch together.
  • Announcements
  • Guest Speaker
  • Table Discussion
  • Community Service and/or Craft
  • Closing Prayer. Dismiss to pick up children by 11:30 a.m. (Moppets is more than childcare—children are cared for in a loving environment with a structured and fun curriculum)

WHEN:

MOPS Hearts and Stars groups meet on alternating Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. September through May. Additional outings and events are planned throughout the year.

WHERE:

Groups meet at the Cherry Hills Community Church atrium that features stunning mountain views.

COST:

The cost per semester is as follows:
  • $65 without childcare
  • $100 for one child in childcare
  • $110 for two or more children in childcare
  • We also offer limited scholarships. Please email coordinators below to learn more.

SPECIAL NOTES:

To support our childcare costs, women with children in Moppets work in the alternate group’s Moppets program one time each semester. Women select the date of their shifts and childcare is provided. Those who register without children in Moppets do not have to work a shift.

What to bring

@ 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.
Wednesdays beginning January 11
What to bring

In a world desperate for truth, goodness, and beauty, the Christian faith has been influenced and passed down by faithful women: martyrs and nuns, mystics and scholars, writers and reformers, preachers and missionaries, abolitionists, evangelists, and moms—examples to us of faith, perseverance, forgiveness and fortitude. Five weeks, five stories of the transforming power of God in the lives of five women who now serve at Cherry Hills Community Church.

May 3 - Ramona Spilman, Adult Education Pastor
