Young people in Eastern Europe live in a changing world their parents never knew – a place once dominated by government sponsored atheism yet now filled with opportunity and freedom. But this same region is also increasingly becoming a “post-Christian society.”

The world has changed. But the gospel is still the same and God is moving in a unique way across Eastern Europe as young men and women are being touched by the message of Jesus Christ. Some of this is being sparked by the dedication, sacrifice and service of a missionary team called Josiah Venture.

Every Summer, Josiah Venture reaches out to high school students in Eastern Europe through summer English camps. The camps have one purpose: to share the love of Jesus Christ. Through peer to peer relationships with students, the love of Jesus goes out to those who have had little or no contact with Christians, the Bible, or the truth of Jesus Christ.

Among the young people in these countries there is a high desire to improve English conversation and to learn about English-speaking cultures. Josiah Venture’s goal is to provide the highest quality English conversation program and openly discuss the claims of Jesus Christ. In a typical year, close to 4000 youth take part in JV summer English camps. Over a third of these are non-Christian students, many of whom are exposed to the gospel for the first time as a result of the camps

Ministry Opportunities and Vision

Vision

To be part of a movement of God among the youth of Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society.

Mission

To equip young leaders throughout Eastern Europe to fulfill Christ’s commission through the local church.

  • Form interpersonal relationships with high school students from the Czech Republic and Czech youth leaders.
  • Participate in an English Camp - conversational English, not grammar
  • Work alongside Eastern European youth groups and youth leaders to help model relational evangelism.
  • Experience first hand the fulfilling of the Great Commission to the Czech people and help our church partners in Blatna and Pisek to reach out to their communities.

This camp is a wonderful way to get involved with what God is doing in Eastern Europe. You will work side-by-side with young adult leaders and teens from the Czech Republic having fun and teaching conversational English and sports.

Who are the team leaders?

Matt Hartman, Sr. High Youth Pastor/Family Ministry at Cherry Hills Community Church.

What is the Czech Initiative Team?

The Czech Initiative is a group of people from our church with the desire to join with Christ as He builds His church in the Czech Republic.

Who should go?

YOU - You do not have to be an English teacher to teach.  The English camp curriculum is simply conversational English combined with some fun activities.  You do not need to speak Czech.  Translators will be at the camp to assist you.
